In a typical season, we would advertise tryouts at the activities fair during the first few weeks of school. Then we will hold three days tryouts and form the teams after evaluating everyone’s skill level.
Club Swim runs through the entire academic year, starting in September and going all the way through June. During a normal year, practices run five days a week at the Avery Rec pool, but workouts and times may be adjusted through the year. Practices are meant to be a mix of fun and tough work with multiple variations of workouts to best suit everyone's swimming ability and desire for a challenge. Every practice is also optional. Some members like to train five days a week while some love coming a few times, once a week, or once every other week. Whenever you can make it, we love to have you! Additionally, we normally try to race at two meets a quarter in order to give multiple opportunities for swimmers to qualify for College Club Swimming Nationals, a meet typically held at the end of March or beginning of August. Like practices, these opportunities are all optional and meant to provide opportunities for those who want to race. Anyone is welcome to join Club Swim as there are no limits on team size, so we typically have over 40 active members each year! Outside of the pool, Club Swim members often have classes, study, grab food, and just hang out together. It is an awesome way for younger students to meet and become friends with upperclassmen, of whom can become helpful mentors when starting school. This year, we are looking forward to adapting these out of the water activities to an online environment and continuing to foster a close community.
JOIN NOW
The best way to join Club Swim is through signing up for our email list here.
As we get ready for the new year, this will be our official form of communication to inform members about further details for the club. Once you are on the email list, we will provide details on registering with Stanford Club Sports and College Club Swimming, paying dues (costs are reduced this year due to current situation in the world – we don't want this to be a barrier for anyone, we have resources to support those with financial concerns), and more. If you have any questions, reach out to our Student Officers under the Staff tab.
We want to be as transparent as possible up front: swimming is expensive, so Club Swim does ask for either $50 a quarter or $125 a year to be paid in dues, but if this might prove to be a financial hardship for you at all, PLEASE let Bennett Rosenberg (bennett9@stanford.edu) and Morgan Deale (mcdeale9@stanford.edu) know and we will give you as much financial assistance as possible. Here are the steps for paying dues:
- Create an account: https://assuepay.stanford.edu/
- Group to pay: 8488 (Stanford Club Swimming)
- You have to create an ASSU ePay account
Alternatively, this navigates you right to the dues pay screen:
